Pensioners Alert: Complete Your Life Certificate 2025 Online or Offline Before the Deadline

Every year, November brings an important reminder for millions of pensioners — it’s time to submit the annual Life Certificate. This simple but crucial document ensures continued pension payments and prevents fraudulent withdrawals. Gone are the days when submitting it meant standing in long queues at banks or post offices. With online options now available, the process has become efficient and hassle-free.

Why Submitting Life Certificate Matters

To keep your pension active, every pensioner must confirm their living status once a year. Pension Disbursing Agencies (PDAs) are required by the government to verify this certificate before releasing any payments.

  • The Life Certificate verification process runs from November 1 to November 30 each year.
  • Pensioners above 80 years of age get an extended period — they can submit it from October 1 to November 30.
  • Submission can be done online or offline, depending on your convenience.

Essential documents to keep handy:

  • Aadhaar number
  • PPO (Pension Payment Order) number
  • Pension account details
  • Registered mobile number
  • Biometric verification (iris or fingerprint)

How to Submit Life Certificate Online

There are two simple digital ways to generate your Life Certificate at home — through the Jeevan Pramaan portal or the UMANG app.

1. Through Jeevan Pramaan (jeevanpramaan.gov.in)

  • Connect your mobile or computer to a biometric device.
  • Visit the official Jeevan Pramaan website.
  • Click on ‘Get a Certificate’ and download the application.
  • Enter your Aadhaar and PPO number.
  • Complete the biometric verification (fingerprint or iris scan).
  • Once verified, your certificate is stored digitally and accessible to your pension-disbursing bank or post office.

2. Using the UMANG App

  • Open the UMANG app and log in.
  • Select the ‘Jeevan Pramaan’ option.
  • Choose ‘Generate Life Certificate’.
  • Enter your details and perform biometric authentication.
  • The app automatically forwards the digital version to your pension authority.

You can also check your Life Certificate status anytime on the Jeevan Pramaan website using your Pramaan ID.

Offline Submission: For Those Who Prefer the Traditional Way

If you enjoy visiting your bank branch or prefer an in-person verification process, the offline method is still valid.

Steps for offline submission:

  • Visit your nearest bank, post office, or Citizen Service Centre (CSC).
  • Carry your Aadhaar, PPO, and other necessary documents.
  • Fill out and submit the Life Certificate form manually.
  • After verification, the staff will update your record and confirm submission.

To find the nearest CSC, visit the Jeevan Pramaan website and select ‘Locate a Centre’ or simply send a message —
Type: “JPL [Your PIN Code]”
Send To: 7738299899

Submitting your Life Certificate on time ensures an uninterrupted pension flow and safeguards your financial stability. Whether you choose to go digital or stay traditional, completing this step is essential for every pensioner in 2025.
