This new rule is designed to keep the town safe, comfortable, and less crowded for everyone.
Why Is Pre-Registration Being Introduced?
Mussoorie, known as the “Queen of Hills,” has always been a favorite spot for travelers. But in recent years, the number of visitors has doubled, especially during summer and winter holidays. This has led to:

The new pre-registration rule aims to:

How Will the Pre-Registration System Work?
Who Needs to Register?
- All tourists planning to visit Mussoorie during peak travel periods, such as summer vacations, winter holidays, and long weekends.
What Do You Need to Do?
- Register online before starting your journey.
- Fill in details like:
- Your contact number
- Vehicle information
- Number of people traveling
- Duration and place of stay
- Your contact number
- After submitting your details, you will receive an OTP (One-Time Password) on your mobile phone (for Indian tourists) or email (for international tourists).
- Once verified, you will get a QR code.
What Happens at the Entry Points?
- There are three main checkpoints:
- Kimadi
- Kempty Fall
- Kuthal Gate
- Kimadi
- At these checkpoints:
- Show your QR code to the staff.
- Automated cameras will scan your vehicle’s number plate.
- If you have a valid QR code, you will be allowed to enter.
- If you do not have a QR code, you may be denied entry.

Important Things to Remember
- Pre-registration is only required during peak seasons. You can visit freely during off-peak times.
- The system is being put in place because of serious incidents, including a recent case where a tourist could not get medical help in time due to traffic jams.
- More than 21 lakh tourists visited Mussoorie last year, making crowd control a top priority.
- The rule is not meant to discourage visitors, but to ensure everyone can enjoy a safe and pleasant trip.
