Goa is the first Indian state to use a QR code system for visitors who are driving. By eliminating the need for several document checks, this new program seeks to facilitate travel.
How Does It Work?
Tourists’ documents will be checked by traffic police when they arrive in Goa in their cars. After verification, a 12-hour-valid QR code will be created. Instead of undergoing another document verification round, individuals may just present the QR code if they are stopped again.
To enable travellers to avoid pointless checks and have a hassle-free vacation, Goa Police have given out about 4,000 QR cards.
New Mobile App for Easy Verification
“Goa Police has introduced the Quick Pass mobile application for traffic officials,” said SP Rahul Gupta of the crime section. The purpose of this app is to lessen driver discomfort and facilitate traffic compliance.
He went on to say, “The program creates a QR code that law-abiding passengers get as an SMS. They can provide this QR code if they are pulled over once more for standard inspections. This ensures adherence to traffic regulations, expedites document verification, and permits seamless vehicle movement.
Smart Features for Better Traffic Management
Advanced capabilities like geotagging, traffic check hotspot mapping, and real-time traffic data analysis are also included in the app. Senior authorities will be able to better monitor and plan traffic control with the use of these instruments.

Students from Goa’s Padre Conceicao College of Engineering created the app. In 2024, it participated in a hackathon hosted by Goa Police, demonstrating how technology may be applied to tackle practical issues.
Goa hopes to preserve appropriate traffic laws while offering tourists a smooth travel experience with this effort.
