PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojna has gone through a big change. The beneficiaries of the scheme cannot check the status on PM Kisan Portal using their mobile number.
Earlier, farmers were allowed to check the status of the installments by entering their Aadhar Card Number, PAN Number or Mobile Number. Now, they can check the status only by entering Aadhar Number and PAN Number.
The scheme has undergone through several changes including a mandatory e-KYC. But the decision for mandatory e-KYC has been put on hold due to Assembly Elections 2022.
The mobile number has been removed as an option to check installment status because farmers were using it to get updates of other farmers which was unethical.

What is Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojna?
Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojna is a Government of India run initiative. By this initiative each farmer gets Rs 6000 per year as minimum income support.
The scheme was first conceived and implemented by Government of Telangana as Rythy Bandhu Scheme.
Piyush Goyal, then Acting Minister of Finance on February 1, 2019 during Interim Union Budget of India announced the initiative.
The scheme costs Rs 75,000 crore per annum. It came into effect from December 2018 and has been in operation.
In the scheme, each farmer gets Rs 6000 per annum in three installments. The funds come directly in registered bank account of farmers. This ensures that they receive their money on time without corruption.
