The Twitter account of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s personal website, that is narendramodi.in, was hacked in a similar attack that affected prominent personalities months ago.
Like last time, this time to the hackers asked people to donate via bitcoin. The hack was confirmed by Twitter later. The tech giant said in a statement that it has taken “steps to secure the compromised account” and is “actively investigating” the situation.
“We’re aware of this activity and have taken steps to secure the compromised account. We are actively investigating the situation. At this time, we are not aware of additional accounts being impacted,” a Twitter spokesperson said in a statement.
Earlier back in July, the hacker had hacked into the Twitter accounts of personalities like Joe Biden, former US President Barack Obama, billionaire Elon Musk, Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates, and used them to solicit digital currency.
Such donation requests were made back then to and sadly, the hacker was successful in duping many people of bitcoin. The last official tweet from the account was on August 31. The tweet has a quote of PM Modi from his monthly radio programme “Mann Ki Baat“.

While many asked Twitter to look into the issue seriously, others shared memes about the hacker being a frustrated PUBG player.
