Prime Minister Narendra Modi got upgraded to a new car, Mercedes-Maybach S 650 Guard.
Uptil now, he used to travel in Toyota Land Cruiser and Range Rover Vogue.
Mercedes-Maybach S 650 Guard appeared recently at Hyderabad House. PM went to welcome Russian President Vladinir Putin.
His new car comes with VR10 level protection. It is highest level of armored protection that is available in a production car.
Production cars are manufactured on a large scale by a company into identical models. They are open to be sold to general public for use. This means that you can buy one if you can afford it.

Mercedes-Maybach S 650 Guard Features
The car can withstand bullets from AK-47 rifles due to upgraded windows and body shell. It has Explosive Resistant Vehicle 2010 rating. It can protect occupants of car from blast of 15 kg TNT from a distance of 2 meters. The cabin has a separate air supply to protect occupants from gas attack.
S 650 Guard has a 6 Ltr twin turbo V12 engine that develops 516 bhp and 900 Nm of peak torque. The car has top speed of 160 kmph. Flat tyres add more security to the car as they remain unaffected by puncture. Repositioned seats in new vehicle add more comfort and leg room. The car seats also have in built massagers.
Why PM Narendra Modi Got Upgrade?
Special Protection Group (SPG) made request for a new car for Prime Minster. SPG is responsible for safeguarding him. SPG makes assessment of security requirements. Officials take the final decision to buy a new vehicle.
SPG ordered for two cars. Each Mercedes-Maybach S 650 Guard costed 12 crore rupees. One car serves as a decoy for security of Prime Minister.

As Gujarat Chief Minister, Narendra Modi used bullet proof Mahindra Scorpio. He has also used BMW 7 Series High Security Edition, Range Rover Vogue and Toyota Land Cruiser.
