Violent clashes broke out in Gujarat’s Surat when migrant workers attacked police. The migrant workers were demanding arrangements to send them back. The workers started pelting stones on the police. The laborers also damaged some vehicles during the clashes.
Seeing the situation going out of control the police and security personals retaliated and lobbed teargas shells and lathi-charged the agitated crowd of the worker. The exact location of the incident was reported to be near Vareli village on the outskirts of Surat.

The situation was bought under control later on. Millions of migrants are stranded in different parts of the country in this lockdown. Though Shramik trains are being run it is not able to ferry them all to their native places.
