Britain’s Prince Harry and his wife Meghan have said that they would be stepping away from their post as “senior Royals” and will work to become “financially independent”.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex took on Instagram to share the news with the world. They added that the move will “carve out a progressive new role within this institution.”
“We intend to step back as ‘senior’ members of the Royal Family and work to become financially independent, while continuing to fully support Her Majesty The Queen,” they further added.
As per CNN, this was a personal decision by the couple, which has hurt elders’ feelings at the palace.
Personal
In a statement released hours after the Instagram was made, the Buckingham Palace said that “Discussions with The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are at an early stage. We understand their desire to take a different approach, but these are complicated issues that will take time to work through.”
With what we understand, the couple wants to be content in a personal life they have always wanted.
In the middle of the post, the couple focus on how they want to nurture their child both in the UK and North America.
“This geographic balance will enable us to raise our son with an appreciation for the royal tradition into which he was born, while also providing our family with the space to focus on the next chapter, including the launch of our new charitable entity,” they said.
Harry certainly wants himself and his family to not become a commodity around which, paparazzi run shows and print articles.
Harry, last year has also lashed out at the British media for its treatment of his wife. He accused the media of hounding her the way they did his mother, Princess Diana, who died in a 1997 car crash while trying to elude paparazzi.
