As people kept on violating ‘lockdown’ restrictions put in place to prevent COVID-19 Punjab government has gone stricter. The state government on Monday imposed a curfew to stop the spread of coronavirus.
CM Captain Amarinder Singh announced a full curfew with no relaxations after reviewing the situation. Anybody seeking relaxations to the restrictions will get them for a given period and purpose, said the government spokesperson. The state like others announced a lockdown on Sunday but a mass violation of it on Monday led to the drastic step.
On Monday after Sunday’s Janta Curfew people were seen rushing to the shops to buy essential daily-use items. While Police officials were making announcements to people not to gather movements were seen on roads. Since other states too saw violations of lockdown similar steps can be expected in the future.

So, far 82 districts across the country are under the lockdown. States have started to seal their borders (except for essential goods) to restrict movements. Maharashtra has been the hardest hit with close to 90 cases of COVID-19 being reported. As people kept on violating the lockdown restrictions put in the palace the government of Punjab on Monday announced a full curfew.
