In an unusual case related to Coronavirus, a District Magistrate in Punjab ordered the arrest of a Coronavirus suspect. A 38-year old man who showed up with symptoms of the deadly coronavirus was arrested by the police.
The arrest was made as the man refused to stay in the isolation ward of the hospital as a part of treatment. This is probably the first case in the country where a suspected patient faced arrest for resisting the medical protocol.
As per reports, the man returned from Canada to his house in Punjab Kotkapura about a week ago. On his return journey, the person stopped over at Shanghai for 9-hours. The patient turned up in the hospital in Kotkapura with symptoms like coronavirus.
While his blood sample was immediately taken, high drama was witnessed after the patient refused to stay in the isolation ward. Taking note of the situation the Deputy Commissioner cum District Magistrate of Faridkot in Punjab issued formal orders directing the police chief to intervene and arrest the patient.

Later the patient was escorted by the police to the isolation ward in the hospital where he is currently under observation. Since the patient finally acceded to stay in the isolation ward, his arrest was not made. A similar kind of case was also reported from Haryana. The deadly coronavirus so far has killed over 400 people in China. The disease has been declared a health emergency by WHO.
