Getting property registered in Punjab has always been a time-consuming process. From running around government offices to dealing with multiple paperwork formalities, many people have had to wait for days—sometimes even weeks—to get their land registration completed. To put an end to this hassle, the Punjab government has rolled out a new instant property registry service, designed to simplify the procedure and save precious time.
Registry Completed in Just 24 Hours
The state government has introduced a “Tatkal” service for land registration, very similar to the passport’s instant option. With this facility, property owners will not have to wait endlessly for their registry papers. Instead, the entire process will be wrapped up within just 24 hours.
This benefit is applicable in both online e-registration as well as offline modes. Earlier it was claimed that e-registry could be done quickly, but delays continued, causing inconvenience to people. To fix this issue, the instant service has now been implemented. While those opting for the normal process will get their files cleared as usual, individuals who need urgent registration can now go for the express route.
Fees for Instant Registry
The fast-track registration won’t be free for everyone. To use this service, interested applicants will need to pay ₹10,000 as a Tatkal fee. By paying this additional amount, the registry process will be completed within one day.
Along with this, applicants can also book an appointment in advance by paying ₹500, ensuring smoother scheduling at the Sub-Registrar’s office.
