Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has warned people of dire consequences if they are caught raising “azadi” slogans while protesting against CAA. He said that people shouting “azadi” slogans will be charged with “sedition” and “stringent action”. “Staging a peaceful protest is everyone’s right. But…if anyone resorts to violence, we would recover damages from them,” he added.

The statement comes after a number of women staging an indefinite protest in Lucknow’s iconic Ghanta Ghar were arrested over the weekend. While addressing a pro-CAA rally, Yogi also said that it’s shameless that the men have sent their wives and children to protest while they sit in the comfort of the home.
