Director Ashutosh Gowariker’s historical drama ‘Panipat’ has attracted public uproar ever since its release last Friday. In a recent Rajasthan’s Tourism Minister Vishvendra Singh has called for a ban on the screening of the movie in north India.

The minister said that the movie, featuring Arjun Kapoor and Kriti Sanon, portrays Bharatpur king Maharaja Surajmal in an unseemly manner. Many on social media have expressed their anger on the same issue.

Panipat is based on the third battle of Panipat fought between the Maratha empire and Afghan king Ahmad Shah Abdali in 1761.
