Days after his discharge from a hospital in Hyderabad after complaints of irregular blood pressure, superstar Rajinikanth on Tuesday announced that he would not be announcing a political party anytime soon.

‘Only I know the pain of announcing this,’ writes Rajnikanth pulling back his decision to launch a political party on December 31. “Without entering electoral politics, will serve the people. This decision of mine will disappoint my fans and people but please forgive me,” the superstar added.
Post his discharge, Rajnikanth has been advised to be in complete bed rest with regular monitoring of his blood pressures “in view of his post-transplant status, labile hypertension and age,” Apollo Hospitals, Hyderabad, said in a statement.

The 70-year-old was expected to float his political party in January 2021, ahead of the upcoming assembly elections in Tamil Nadu.

The decision would surely come as a relief for political parties including BJP, which is said to be prepping for political entry in South India. There has been speculation that the mass popularity of Rajnikanth in Tamil Nadu would surely have lessened contesting parties (even the ruling AIADMK) assembly seats to bits and pieces.
