Reopening: Andhra Pradesh Plans To Open Schools From This Date

While the COVID-19 pandemic is touching new records of cases every 24 hours reopening schools has been a matter of talks. While states like Haryana announced opening schools in July only to take back the decision after parents resisted the idea. Now, when other states are looking to get education back on track Andhra Pradesh has announced a date of reopening.

The Andhra Pradesh government has decided to restart schools from September 5. The state government is planning to open the schools from the Teacher’s day however this would be based on the final assessment they said. Education Minister Adimulapu Suresh told reporters that the final decision would be taken based on assessing the real-time situation.

Dry rations, in lieu of mid-day meals, will be supplied to students at their homes till the time schools open said the minister. In the meeting, the state government also decided to introduce pre-primary education (LKG and UKG) in government schools from the next academic year, and coaching will be provided for competitive exams like AP EAMCET, JEE, IIIT, etc.

While many states have presented their willingness to open schools in Mid-August and September many other states and UTs have not yet decided on the matter. The Union HRD ministry has said that re-opening of schools should be decided on after the 15th of August. While universities have started making education digital with semesters going online schools would have to look for such solutions as parents are concerned.
