Republic Day Violence Accused Deep Sidhu Died In Road Accident

Punjabi actor, activist Deep Sidhu was accused of being key conspirator in Red Fort violence last year on Republic Day. He died yesterday on February 15 in a car accident on Kundli-Manesar-Palwal Expressway near Sonipat district. The accident happened near Pipli Plaza in Kharkhoda; he was travelling from Delhi to Punjab with his girlfriend. Inspector at Kharkhoda police Jaspal Singh said, “Deep Sidhu died in the accident. A female friend accompanying him was taken to a hospital where her condition was stable.”

According to early reports by the police Sidhu had major injuries in head and the SUV he was driving was badly damaged on driver’s side. The white SUV he was driving hit a parked truck on the side of the highway. The police reached to the site of accident immediately.

Sidhu played an active part in protests against farm laws at Singhu border last year. He was even arrested on February 9, 2021 because of his role in Republic Day violence on Red Fort. He was in jail for two months.

Charanjit Singh Channi expressed his grief on Twitter. He tweeted, “Deeply saddened to learn about the unfortunate demise of renowned actor and social activist Deep Sidhu. My thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved family and his fans.”
