Congress candidate ‘Rezaul Haque’ contesting the West Bengal polls in Murshidabad died on Thursday. After he was tested Corona positive, he was being treated in a private hospital in Kolkata. Bengal Pradesh Congress Secretary, Rohan Mitra shared the news through Twitter on Thursday morning.
He wrote, “In Murshidabad district, Samserganj Assembly INC India candidate Rezaul Haque passed away last night due to Corona! The reality we are facing! Wake up and smell the coffee. Survive this year and be alive to see the next new year of the Bengali calendar”

His death has come at a time when four more polling phases to go in West Bengal. Meanwhile, the EC has called up each party to meet on Friday to discuss the maintenance of Coronavirus safety measures during elections. However, on Wednesday, West Bengal has recorded 5, 892 new Covid-19 cases and 24 deaths.
