The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has now made it free for citizens to alter their addresses on their Aadhaar cards for three months, till March 14.
The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) had previously set December 14 as the deadline. The Central Government Body has asked individuals to apply for updates if they need to make changes to their Aadhaar Card, including address changes.
People can visit the official UIDAI website – https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/ – and can modify the address on their Aadhaar card by logging in using their Aadhaar number or registered mobile device number.
Steps To Change The Address On Your Aadhaar Card
- Step 1: Go to https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/ portal to access the Aadhaar self-service update portal.
- Step 2: Select “Document Update” and then “Click To Submit”
- Step 3: Log in with your Aadhaar number and the OTP (One-time password) sent to your registered mobile phone.
- Step 4: If you have a valid proof of address, click ‘Proceed to Update Address.’
- Step 5: Enter your Aadhaar 12-digit number and select ‘Send OTP.’
- Step 6: Enter your OTP to access your Aadhaar account.
- Step 7: Enter the new address by utilizing the ‘Update Address with Address Proof’ or ‘Update Address via Secret Code’ options.
- Step 8: Fill in your residence address from the ‘Proof of Address’ paper.
- Step 9: Select the type of address proof document.
- Step 10: Attach a scanned copy of your address proof document and click ‘Submit.’
- Step 11: Once the Aadhaar update request is approved, a 14-digit Update Request Number (URN) is created.
Check The Status After Updating The Address Online
- You may check the progress of an update by entering the 14-digit Update Request Number (URN).
- Once the update status is ‘complete,’ people can download and print their updated Aadhaar card.
