Popular American singer Akon known for his track “smack that” is all set to get a city of his own in Africa. The city named “AKON CITY” would be a part of the Western African nation of Senegal.
The singer made the announcement through his twitter account where he shared a picture of him with officials of Senegal’s government. He captioned the picture, ” Just finalized the agreement for AKON CITY in Senegal. Looking forward to hosting you there in the future”.
The Akon city would have its own currency and that would be none other than the modern face of currency cryptocurrency. And if you thought that’s it then let me tell you that Akon would not be going for Bitcoin or Ethereum as the official currency of the city.
Rather he is planning to launch his own cryptocurrency, dubbed Akoin. The launch of Akoin was vaguely announced by the singer in 2018 when he revealed his grand plan to build a “Crypto City.”
Though the singer has signed an agreement for building the city his plan of launching his own cryptocurrency is still in shambles as there doesn’t appear to be any white paper for his cryptocurrency.

The website promoting Akoin, however, hypes the release of a white paper and says an “explainer video” would be released sometime before February this year.
