Smart QR Kiosks Revolutionise Traffic Challan Payments in Gurugram
Paying traffic challans in Gurugram has become effortless thanks to the introduction of QR code-powered kiosks. These self-service machines allow drivers to clear their dues any time—day or night—without visiting a traffic office or court. The new system aims to make transactions quick, hassle-free, and transparent.
The first kiosk has been set up at Ambience Mall, one of the city’s busiest spots. It is a pioneering step in India’s traffic management, enabling motorists to settle fines while shopping, thus saving time and effort.
How the QR Kiosk Works
Using the kiosk is simple. Drivers just enter their vehicle number or challan number into the machine. A QR code instantly appears on the screen. Scanning this code with a smartphone takes them to a secure payment gateway, where the challan amount can be cleared within seconds—similar to the ease of withdrawing cash at an ATM. No technical expertise is required, making it accessible for everyone.
While the kiosk supports most challan payments, fines that have been escalated to court cannot be processed through this system.
From Long Queues to Instant Payments
In the past, paying a traffic challan meant standing in long lines at a police office or court, often wasting hours in the process. This new QR kiosk eliminates the delay, ensuring payments are completed in minutes. With robust 24-hour availability and a location that draws heavy footfall, it blends convenience with innovation for Gurugram’s motorists.
