On Thursday, after the further revelation in the Sonali Phogat case, Goa Police has arrested two of her associates. Police arrested them for their alleged collusion in her murder after an autopsy revealed “multiple blunt force injuries” on her body. Before this, it was suspected that she died, at 42, after suffering a severe heart attack in Goa, on August 23.
2 Aides Arrested In Sonali Phogat Case
Police arrested Phogat’s personal assistant Sudhir Sangwan and his associate/friend Sukhwinder after hours of interrogation. Both of them accompanied Phogat when she landed in Goa in August 2022, and they were seen as accused after her brother claimed, with a formal complaint, that they were somehow involved in her death. Rinku, her brother, had filed a formal complaint with Goa Police alleging that her sister, Sonali Phogat, was raped and murdered by her assistant and his friend.
Mortal Remains Of BJP Leader Reached Haryana
Sonali Phogat’s mortal remains reached her place in Haryana on Thursday. Her brother spoke, “We always felt that there was foul play and the same thing came out. So far, we are satisfied with the ongoing investigation…”
Manohar Lal Khattar, Haryana CM, said he communicated with his counterpart in Goa and Police officials that are investigating the case. Also asked about the family’s want for CBI Probe in the case, he said, “We will do as the family members ask for. If they give us their demands in writing, we will give it for further processing.”
Rinku said in his complaint, “She (Phogat) said (Sudhir) Sanghwan (her PA) had given her drug-laced food with some intoxicant and raped her, and made a video, and was threatening to make the video viral on social media,” as quoted by ANI.

He had also alleged, “She had no plan to come to Goa; was brought as per pre-planned conspiracy. There was no movie shoot, and two rooms in a hotel were booked only for two days. Film shooting was supposed to happen on August 24 but rooms were only booked for Aug 21-22.”
