WhatsApp has more than 500 million users In India. WhatsApp application is a social interaction tool that allows its users to stay in touch with their friends, family, and coworkers by providing instant messaging and also audio and video calling options.
However, fraudsters are already misusing WhatsApp’s voice-calling function. WhatsApp users are now far more likely to get spam calls from foreign numbers than in the past few weeks. The Indian government has notified WhatsApp about the issue and instructed them to fix the issue soon.
WhatsApp has promised its users that it will handle this issue and will take strict action against them. WhatsApp is currently only able to block 50% of the spam calls. Currently, there is no proper way to completely block scammers and stop them from calling users and irritating them on WhatsApp.
WhatsApp is currently testing a new function that would let users block calls from random numbers. This latest feature is currently only available to a selected group of beta testers but it is believed that all users will have access to it very soon.
But there is a simple way you can silence the calls from the unknown numbers
Open WhatsApp on your phone and select the three dots menu to block calls from unauthorized and scam numbers. In the next step, you have to choose “Settings” and then “Privacy.” After that select “Calls” and, then turn on the option to “Silence Unknown Calls.”
Remember that if you block calls from unknown numbers, it will also block any calls from persons whose numbers are recorded in your contacts that are crucial. Furthermore, this function will only stop you from receiving notices of spam calls; it won’t stop spammers from actually calling you.
