The air quality in Sydney is worsening with AQI crossing 2000 mark on Tuesday. The worsened AQI is the result of smoke generated by 1,000s of bushfires amid the ongoing bushfire season. Environmentalists from across the world quoted that the air quality in parts of Sydney is more than ten times worse than ‘hazardous’ levels.

The air quality has even set off smoke alarms in some office buildings and puts the lives of people at risk. The Air Quality Index (AQI) compiled by the state environment department reached 2,552 in some eastern suburbs.
