Taj Mahal to Get Anti-Drone Security System for Enhanced Protection
According to a top official on Sunday, the famous Taj Mahal’s security will be enhanced with the installation of anti-drone technology to thwart any aerial threats.
Advanced drone neutralisation technology would soon be added to the monument’s defences, which are now provided by the Uttar Pradesh Police and the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), he said.
The action follows days after India responded to the heinous Pahalgam atrocity on May 7 by launching targeted attacks on nine terror hotspots in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir as part of Operation Sindoor.
Pakistan launched a barrage of drone attacks, missiles, and artillery fire. The Indian military eliminated all of these airborne threats, underscoring the increasing necessity of anti-drone defences in sensitive areas.
“The Taj Mahal complex will have an anti-drone system installed,” stated Syed Arib Ahmad, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Taj Security). The system will work best inside a 200-meter radius of the monument’s main dome, although it will have a 7-8 km range. In what is referred to as a “soft kill,” he stated, “the system will automatically jam the signal of any drone entering the area, rendering it inoperable.”
A specialised reaction team is being established, Ahmad continued, and police officers are receiving training on how to use the system. He stated that the system installation should be finished in the coming days. “The team will trace the origin point of the drone and secure the area where it is brought down,” he added.
One of India’s most visited monuments and a source of pride for the country, the Taj Mahal is a UNESCO World Heritage Site; therefore, protecting it is of utmost importance.
