In a first, passengers will now be charged Rs. 100 extra if they carry an extra bag when travelling on Tejas Express. As per the reports, the charges will be levied on passengers carrying luggage weighing more than 70 kg in the Executive Chair Car, and above 40 kg in the Chair Car. Tejas Express is India’s first private train that runs for six hours from Mumbai to Ahmedabad.

The IRCTC also said more such baggage carrying rules are pending to be implemented on other trains as well. However, a lack of resources refrains them from doing so as of now. IRCTC is mulling to levy luggage charges on AC First Class passengers which will not permit them to travel with luggage not weighing more than 70 kg.
