Anupam Kher starrer The Kashmir Files released on March 11 in theatres. The film is about heartbreaking story of Kashmiri Pandits that were victim of mass scale genocide in 1990. The incident is considered to be the most tragic event that has happened to a community in India. The trailer of the movie attracted lots of attention and controversy. The movie gave a glimpse of confusion, terror and panic that was flying all across Kashmir 30 years ago.
As soon as the trailer was launched it became very popular and went to ‘must watch’ list of many people across the country. The excitement for the film reflected upon the Day 1 collection of the film. The Kashmir Files is directed by Vivek Agnihotri who was also behind The Tashkent Files. The movie did a business of 4 crore on its first day and has debut on only 561 screens in India. Given that it has released on such limited number of screens the performance has come out to be great.

The movie is directed by Vivek Agnihotri and stars several National award winning names like Bhasha Sumbali, Darshan Kumar, Puneet Issar, Chinmay Mandelkar, Atul Srivastava, Mrinal Kulkarni, and Prithviraj Sarnaik. The film is produced by Tej Narayan Agarwal, Pallavi Joshi, Abhishek Agarwal, Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri and Zee Studios.
The movie was also screened in Jammu and a video surfaced online where two women could be seen raising their voices against employees of multiplex and the police. The women were angry and aggressive towards the management. The screening of the movie was halted and it was being done to muzzle the truth. Vivek Agnihotri said that what prompted the management to stop the screening of the movie. Recently even Kapil Sharma got entailed in the controversy where he did not allow the promotion of movie on his stage.
