Cursing parents for giving names that become the centre of ‘bullying’ is something these twins would do in the future. Born at the time of the pandemic a couple has named their ‘twins’ after it. The incident has come to light from Chhattisgarh’s Raipur.
The couple has named their twins – a boy and a girl COVID and Corona respectively. This would remind them about all the hardships they conquered amid the lockdown, ahead of a successful delivery, said the parents of the twins. The twins were born on the night of March 26-27 at a government hospital.
“I was blessed with the twins – a boy and a girl – in the early hours on March 27. We have named them Covid (boy) and Corona (girl) for now,” said Preeti Verma, mother of twins.
“The delivery happened after facing several difficulties and therefore, me and my husband wanted to make the day memorable. Indeed the virus is dangerous and life-threatening but its outbreak made people focus on sanitation, hygiene and inculcate other good habits. Thus, we thought about these names“, she added.

The couple which is originally from Uttar Pradesh reached the hospital on the night of March 26th. That is on the 2nd day of the nation-wide 21 days lockdown. “Within 45 minutes of their arrival, the delivery was done successfully”, said Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the hospital, Shubhra Singh. Since their naming, the twins have become the center of attraction.
