Taking the implementation of lockdown to stricter levels the government of Karnataka has now banned 2 and 4 wheelers. With still 2 weeks of lockdown left the decision has come in. The DGP of Karnataka police shared the information through his Twitter handle.
The DGP also warned that it’s not an ‘April Fool’s’ prank. ” This is not an April Fool’s prank. Two/ four-wheelers are banned from use till the 14th of April. We will SEIZE your vehicle if you CEASE to ignore this lockdown regulation”, read the tweet. The nationwide lockdown to prevent COVID-19 would also come to an end on the 14th of April.

“Here, we gave the order two days ago. We have already seized 5200 vehicles. Walk to your grocery store, don’t use a vehicle,” said Bengaluru Police Commissioner Bhaskar Rao. The state police have been already seizing bikes when they suspected that motorists were out on the streets for flimsy reasons. The idea is to prevent crowd gathering by making people walk to buy essentials. The absence of a vehicle would restrict the reach of people to their respective locality.
Here is how the public reacted to the move:
Sir, Please clarify how do we get essential groceries home? Are you suggesting we walk? Kindly respond. Thank you

Banning vehicles is a pretty dumb movie. The sooner people get stuff , reach home and clean themselves, the better for them!

Not acceptable- first you ask us not hoard and now stop us from making trips to groceries / medical stores / veggie shopping !

If you have medical ailments & have to walk 1km for essentials, maybe then you will think twice about tweeting out such stupidities without a legal backing. Try seizing and you will be behind bars after lockdown for illegal seizure.

This is a citizen terrorizing message.
