As the COVID-19 is making fast strides in India quick measures and decisions are flowing in for its restriction. In recent, the ‘Tihar Jail’ authorities have decided to release 3, 000 prisoners.
The largest prison in ‘South Asia’ would be releasing the inmates to ease the congestion. Public distancing and avoidance of gatherings are to key factors in preventing COVID-19. Considering this the decision is taken. The release would be done in the next 3 to 4 days.
Out of 3,000 prisoners, 1,500 convicts will be released on parole. The remaining 1,500-who are undertrial prisoners-will be out on interim bail. Hardened criminals are kept out of the preview. Notably, Tihar is the same place where recently the hanging of 4 convicts of Nirbhaya case was done.
