Following a positive reaction from the public, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has extended the period for free changes of Aadhaar data via the myAadhaar portal. According to a recent UIDAI memorandum dated December 11, 2023, “based on the positive response from the residents, it is decided to extend the facility for 3 more months i.e. from 15.12.2023 to 14.03.2024.”
As a result, the facility for document modification will remain free of charge through the myAadhaar portal at https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/ till March 14, 2024.” This extension extends the service by three months, making it available from December 15, 2023, to March 14, 2024. However, while online updates remain free, physical Aadhaar centre updates will be levied for Rs 25.
The UIDAI highlights the necessity of keeping Aadhaar information up-to-date, particularly for people who have not updated their information in the recent decade. This strategy is planned to reduce Aadhaar-related fraud.
The UIDAI website states, “Please update your Aadhaar for continued accuracy of demographic information.”Residents can change their name, address, birth date, gender, phone number, and email address online. Individuals must visit physical Aadhaar locations to update their picture, iris, or other biometric data.
