The Lucknow administration has identified and put hoardings with the names and pictures of 53 anti-CAA protesters, who have been identified to have had participated in the violent protests in the state’s capital on December 19 last year, at various locations across Lucknow.
The hoardings include pictures and addresses of Shia cleric Maulana Saif Abbas, retired IPS SR Darapuri and Congress leader Sadaf Jafar. The district administration also ordered the protesters to pay up for the damages incurred during the protests or else their properties well be sealed.
Addressing the media, Lucknow District Magistrate Abhishek Prakash said: “The hoardings of people who have been identified by the district administration for indulging in violent activities during the protest have been put up across the city. Around 100 such hoardings will be put up at several places and these will feature the pictures, names and addresses of people. Also, people indulging in violence have been served recovery notices and if they don’t pay for the damages, then their properties will be confiscated.”

The authorities have served notices to at least 16 people till now; to recover the loss of Rs 1.55 crore incurred during the clashes.
The decision to make up for the damage this way was first announced by UP CM Yogi Adtiyanth. He had said that this would be his “revenge” against the ones indulging in violent clashes.

This model of financial recovery was recently implemented by the Gujarat government as well.
