The Transport Department of Uttar Pradesh has introduced a WhatsApp chatbot (8005441222) that allows residents to access transport services around-the-clock without having to go to RTO offices. API access was provided by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), enabling real-time verification of:
1. Details of Vehicle Registration
2. Services for Drivers’ Licenses
3. E-Challan Payments and Status
4. Tracking Applications
To improve digital governance, MoRTH grants Uttar Pradesh’s WhatsApp Transport Chatbot API access.
The system complies with data security requirements by using end-to-end encryption. Brijesh Narayan Singh, the transport commissioner, stated that this reduces office foot traffic by an estimated 40% and is in line with UP’s Smart Transport System aims.
