WhatsApp, the messaging and video calling platform, will soon gonna add an ‘audio chats’ feature for Android devices.
According to WABetaInfo, the new capability was discovered using the WhatsApp beta version on Android. The new capability is expected to be added to the platform with the upcoming next update. The WABetaInfo article indicated that a new waveforms symbol will be added to the header of the conversation, which will let users begin audio discussions. The users will now be able to end ending ongoing calls with the red button.
According to the study, the area above the chat header might be dedicated to showing an audio waveform symbol, which indicates the possibility of real-time audio visualization. The Meta-owned platform intends to provide a minimalistic interface that will allow users to view audio waveforms while navigating between conversations. The new voice-calling functionality will be ideal for its recently launched Communities.
The feature is currently in development, but little is known about it. According to the sources, the upcoming voice calls update will mimic group audio conversations similar to those seen in Twitter Spaces, Discord, and Slack Huddles.
Meta has announced a new WhatsApp application for Windows users which appears identical to the mobile app version and loads significantly quicker. The platform also allows group video calls with up to eight people at a time, and audio calls with up to 32 people.
The tech giants have also made several enhancements, such as speedier device connection and improved device synchronization, as well as new features like link previews and stickers. Meanwhile, the company is also working on an ‘edit message’ new feature which will allow the iOS people to send clear, concise, and error-free messages.
Furthermore, according to the WABetaInfo report, messages can be changed in 15 minutes and will display a ‘modified’ label within the message bubble. The ability to modify and edit your messages is presently in development.
In order to provide users with the most recent information about the app, including updates and usage hints for iOS and Android, WhatsApp has established its official conversation on the platform. The conversation is labeled with a green flag and provides tips and techniques for using the app.
