Users of Aadhaar will be able to verify their Aadhaar-seeded mobile numbers and email IDs on both the Unique Identification Authority of India’s website and mobile application with a new feature that has been introduced, according to UIDAI. Following several complaints from customers who were unaware or unsure which of their cell numbers had been seeded to their Aadhaar, the declaration was issued.
“As a result, residents were concerned that their Aadhaar OTP would be sent to another mobile number.” Residents may now easily check these using this facility. The service may be accessed via the official website’s ‘Verify email/mobile Number’ option or the mAadhaar App. “This feature confirms to residents that their email/mobile number is only seeded to their respective Aadhaar,” UIDAI stated in a statement.
The tool also notifies the resident if a mobile number is not linked and recommends them to change the mobile number if desired.
“If a resident’s mobile number is already verified, a message such as ‘the mobile number you have entered is already verified with our records’ will be displayed on their screen.” “If a resident forgets the mobile number she or he provided during enrollment, she or he can check the last three digits of the mobile on the Verify Aadhaar feature on the My aadhaar portal or mAadhaar app,” the statement adds.

- It enables residents to verify and change their Aadhaar-linked mobile numbers and email addresses.
- This function verifies that the email address and mobile phone number registered with Aadhaar are known and valid.
- It will also notify residents if their cellphone number is not connected and suggest them to update it if desired.
- On the Verify Aadhaar feature of the website or app, residents can also see the last three digits of their registered mobile number.
- This service will assist people in keeping their Aadhaar records to current and safe, as well as preventing any exploitation of their personal information.
How to verify and use an online Aadhaar verification facility?
- The first is to visit the official website or you can also install the mAadhaar app on your mobile device.
- In the next step under the ‘My Aadhaar’ section of the website or the ‘Services’ section of the mobile application, you need to select the ‘Verify email/mobile Number’ feature.
- Now in the third step, you have to enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number as well as the captcha code that appears on the screen. After your selection, click ‘Send OTP’ or ‘Enter OTP’.
- In the next step you have to enter the email address or phone number you want to verify. Then you will be sent a one-time password (OTP) through email or text message. If you have registered your mobile number with Aadhaar, you can also use a time-based one-time password (OTP) issued via the mAadhaar app.
- For completing and validating the verification, enter the OTP. If your email or mobile number has been verified with Aadhaar, you will see a confirmation message on the screen. If not, an alert message will appear telling you that your email or cellphone number is not registered with Aadhaar.
If you wish to change your phone number, go to the alert message and select the ‘Update Mobile Number’ option. Now you will be taken to the ‘Update Aadhaar Details (Online)’ function, where you can update your mobile number by following the instructions. You must provide a scanned copy of documents for verifying your identity and you also need to pay Rs 50 for this service. To follow the status of your update request, you will be given an update request number (URN).
