Update Your Aadhaar for Free, New Deadline Announced

Indian residents now have extra time to update their Aadhaar details online at no cost. The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has extended the free online update window until June 14, 2025. This gives everyone six more months to review and correct their Aadhaar information through the myAadhaar portal, without paying any fee.

Why Update Your Aadhaar?

  • Keeping your Aadhaar details current helps you avoid problems when accessing government services, subsidies, or even simple tasks like opening a bank account.
  • If your Aadhaar was created over 10 years ago and you haven’t updated it since, UIDAI especially recommends taking advantage of this free update window.
  • Outdated information can lead to service disruptions or denial of benefits.

What Can Be Updated Online?

You can update key demographic details such as:

  • Name (minor changes)
  • Date of birth (with some restrictions)
  • Address
  • Gender
  • Language preferences

What Happens After June 14, 2025?

  • Online updates: A fee of Rs 25 will be charged for updating identity and address proof documents online.
  • Offline updates: Updates at physical Aadhaar centres will cost Rs 50 per request, which is the current offline fee.
