On Saturday, June 1, the Valley of Flowers National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2005 is now open to visitors. Situated in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand, this beautiful site spans 87 square kilometres and represents the essence of biodiversity and natural beauty. It is part of the Nanda Devi Biosphere Reserve.
The greatest thing is that, with a temperature of -2 degrees Celsius as of June 2, you can avoid the heatwave that is now affecting other regions of the nation. It is thought that the Valley of Flowers National Park was founded in 1931 when three British mountaineers, under the direction of Frank S. Smythe, lost their route and unintentionally arrived at this paradise. Its beauty enthralled them, and they gave it the name “Valley of Flowers.”
When entering the national park, tourists are treated to a breathtaking view that rivals that of Switzerland. There is a wide variety of exotic flowers available; there are over 600 kinds in all, including daisies, marigolds, poppies, orchids, and primulas. Travelers may see breathtaking waterfalls and natural streams on the hike to the valley. This well-liked tourist destination is situated around 3,600 meters above sea level.
