A day after the US and Canada claimed that Iran had ‘mistakenly’ shot the Ukraine plane carrying 176 people, a video has surfaced that seems to cement the claims. A video thread shared by Bellingcat on Twitter appears to show the moment when the plane was hit by an Iran Missile before it plunged to death with 176 people on board.
We are analyzing this new video supposedly showing a mid-air explosion. By our initial estimation, the video shows an apartment block in western Parand (35.489414, 50.906917), facing northeast. The plane took off from Iran’s Imam Khomeini International Airport on Wednesday. The plane had 82 Iranians, 63 Canadians, 11 Ukrainians, 10 Swedes, four Afghans, three Germans, and three British nationals on board.
Earlier, the Iranian Government had said that the crash was the result of mechanical flaws and had also dismissed the US and Canda’s aforementioned claim citing it as “psychological warfare”.
