Criminal Vikas Dubey was killed in a police encounter on Friday after a police accident while being taken to Kanpur via road in Uttar Pradesh from Madhya Pradesh. Police said he tried to escape like three of his other counterparts and thus was shot dead.

For the unaware, Vikas Dubey had killed 8 policemen in Kanpur and was arrested on July 9 from Madhya Pradesh. He was spotted at the Mahakal temple in MP and was nabbed their by the security as per the sources. Many claim that he wanted to escape UP because of the scare of being encountered just like his other gang members. So he ended up in MP and choose a place like a temple to save himself from being shot.

Also, questions were raised on whether it was an arrest or the gangster turned himself in at a time and place of his choosing. However, senior UP police officer Mohit Agarwal dismissed talk of surrender and said: “We had caught many of his associates and a few were killed. So definitely he was trying to save his life and on the run.”
The Encounter
Meanwhile, while he was being brought back, a police vehicle, as per the claim, overturned, which was when he tried to escape. As he attempted an escape, police shot him dead.
However, many people claim that it is a fake encounter and either done to allow a speedy justice for the 8 policemen killed in Bikru village in Kanpur or to hide secrets that Vikas knew about politicians.
Ujjain Superintendent of Police Manoj Kumar Singh told ANI that they are in constant touch with the Uttar Pradesh Police. “We are verifying all facts,” he added. “We will share with them whatever further evidence comes to our knowledge.”

Vikas Dubey’s wife, son and servant were also arrested from Lucknow on Thursday.
