Close to 80 Indian students are still stuck in the epicenter of the coronavirus outbreak Wuhan. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar informed the Rajya Sabha on Friday. The minister also informed that 70 of the 80 chose to stay behind at the time of the evacuation operation.
In his address to Rajya Sabha Jaishankar further said that around 10 out of 80 students had expressed willingness to return to India but could not board the special Air India flight after they failed the screening process at the airport. The Indian embassy in China is in constant touch with the 80 students. The central government is also monitoring the condition of the students.

So far India has evacuated 640 Indians and 7 Maldivians from China. India extended the offer of evacuating people from Wuhan to all its neighboring countries including Pakistan, but only the Maldives chose to take up the offer, said the minister. Coronavirus that started spreading in December last year has so far killed over 600 people in China. Over 25,000 are affected by the virus.
