After millions of requests and a long long wait the ‘Dark Mode’ is finally rolling out in one of the world’s most popular messaging app. WhatsApp’s native dark mode theme is rolling out soon.
The dark mode would be rolling on the app’s Android version for the Beta Testers. WhatsApp’s native dark mode would be called Dark in the theme selection interface, and it would impart a dark green profile to the messaging app’s entire UI with some contrasting colours here and there.
In the ‘Dark Mode’ home screen and the settings menu would be clad in a dark colour. However, in the case of the conversation interface, only the chat bubbles would be dark while the background would remain white or would reflect any other colour the user has set as background.
The mode is so for available on beta tester App on Google Play and the inclusion of feature in the stable version is yet to be announced. So, you must decide whether you want to go for the beta version of the app for the feature or not.

If yes, then here is how you can enable the ‘dark mode’:
- Download the WhatsApp Beta Tester App latest version v2.20.13, you can get the APK file online from websites like APKMirror
- Tap on the three-dot menu icon at the top right corner of the screen and select “Settings” from the menu
- Next, tap on “Chats”, and then tap on “Theme”. Doing so will open a window where you choose the theme
- Choose “Dark” in the window that appears. This will enable the dark mode interface across the app
- Select the “System default” option if you want to automatically switch between dark and light mode based on system settings.

In case you don’t see the WhatsApp dark mode at first after installing the update, then you need to delete and reinstall the latest build of the app from Google Play Store.
