WhatsApp has begun to introduce and roll out a new feature for Android and iOS users called phone number privacy. According to WABetaInfo, the new feature are included in the beta release for iOS and Android. After installing the most recent beta version, users will notice a new ‘phone number privacy’ option in the community announcement group details.
As the name implies, the function will help and assists users in maintaining their privacy by concealing their phone numbers inside the WhatsApp community. Their phone number is only available to community administrators and users who have saved them as a contact with this function.
It also allows users to conceal their complete phone numbers from other chat participants. However, the function is only available to community members, and the phone number of the community administrator is always accessible.
The new phone number privacy feature for communities is already accessible to selected beta users who install the newest WhatsApp for Android and WhatsApp for iOS updates, and it will be available to additional users in the coming days, according to various sources.
Meanwhile, it was announced last week that the messaging platform was developing a new group ideas tool for communities for Android beta.
Any request submitted by other community members using this section would be approved or rejected by community moderators. The section is also expected to provide two shortcuts for rapidly approving or rejecting the ideas.
