Are calls from unknown numbers bothering you? WhatsApp will soon allow its users to silence calls from unknown people so that they are not bothered and disturbed. The meta-owned instant messaging service is working on a new “silence unknown callers” function that would allow users to block calls from unknown numbers or unsaved contacts.
The new functionality, according to Wabetainfo, would allow users to stop any call from an unsaved contact. The functionality is presently being worked on for WhatsApp for Android. It is, however, anticipated to be issued for testing soon.
Users will be able to enable the “silence unknown callers” functionality in the application settings once the feature will be released. When the feature will be activated all calls from unknown numbers will be silent and it would not disturb the WhatsApp users. WhatsApp users will still continue to get notifications about calls from unknown numbers on the notification bar. This new feature will eliminate the need to silence or mute all WhatsApp messages and calls in order to avoid spam calls on WhatsApp.
WhatsApp is also developing a feature that would let users split the screen of their app. Users will be able to view two windows simultaneously utilizing the new split screen option, such as a chat list, chat window, calls, or status tabs. This lets users see and use two different parts of WhatsApp at the same time.
According to WABetaInfo, the messaging app is working on a new split window functionality for its tablet edition. The functionality is now available for testing in the Android beta version for tablets and will be made accessible to everyone soon. According to the source, the current WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.5.9 has a reference to WhatsApp’s new split design.
When it is released, the new WhatsApp layout will allow users to multitask within the app by leveraging a large display of tabs. Users will be able to move between discussions by tracking them in the split view at the same time. Furthermore, the new split functionality will allow users to manage and arrange chats as well as take action on status or calls without having to close the current chat window.
Aside from that, WhatsApp is working on an extensive list of additional enhancements to improve the user interface and privacy on the network. One of the upcoming features is the ability for users to modify any delivered WhatsApp message. Currently in the works for iOS users. Users will be able to alter any sent message within 15 minutes of the time limit using the new edit message functionality.
This allows users to correct any errors in the message or add extra information without erasing the entire message, saving time on recreating it. The functionality is presently in development, but it is likely to be available shortly for WhatsApp iOS beta users.
