Why Every Child Should Have a PAN Card – Simple Steps to Apply
If you are filing an income tax return, opening a bank account, or planning to invest in various financial instruments, you will quickly realise that a PAN card is essential. Many people think only adults above 18 years can get a PAN card, but that’s not true. Even children can have their own PAN card, known as a Minor PAN Card. According to the Income Tax Act, parents can get a PAN card for their child, and only the parents are allowed to use it until the child turns 18.
There are no special restrictions for minors to get a PAN card. The process is straightforward, but once the child becomes an adult, it’s important to update the PAN card details by adding a signature and a photograph, as these are not present on the Minor PAN Card.
Why Should You Get a Minor PAN Card?
- Investment: If you want to invest in your child’s name, you will need a PAN card.
- Nomination: If you want to name your child as a nominee in your investments, a PAN card is necessary.
