A significant warning has been issued by Apple related to people charging iPhones beside them while sleeping at night. As per the company, you can be the victim of the potential danger of sleeping close to the iPhone while charging it. This harmless habit which feels very convenient can have serious consequences, as per the tech giant.
Let’s Know the Risks Apple Has Warned About
Apple advises that:
- Never charge your iPhone overnight, as you will have to leave it unattended.
- This habit can lead to unfortunate incidents such as fire, electric shock, personal injury, or your iPhone getting damaged.
- “Placing your iPhone in close quarters while charging without proper ventilation is a recipe for trouble, especially if it’s nestled near your pillow. This could lead to overheating, potentially damaging your device, and even posing a fire risk,” mentioned Dailyo.
“Don’t sleep on a device, power adapter, or wireless charger, or place them under a blanket, pillow, or your body when connected to a power source. Keep your iPhone, the power adapter, and any wireless charger in a well-ventilated area when in use or charging,” the message reads from the Apple website.
Furthermore, Apple has urged customers to use the original cable and USB adapter to charge their iPhones.

“If you need replacements, opt for products labelled as ‘Made for iPhone,’ or consider third-party alternatives that adhere to USB 2.0 or later standards, alongside relevant safety certifications,” reads the website.
“Additional crucial precautions to avert potential hazards include charging your phone with its screen facing up, ensuring your cables and chargers are undamaged, and preventing moisture or metallic objects from coming into contact with the charger,” mentioned Dailyo.
