Archaeologists in Abu Dhabi have unearthed, to what they claim is, the world’s oldest natural pearl nearly 8,000 years old. The pearl has been discovered at the archaeological site of Marawah Island off the coast of Abu Dhabi in the UAE.

Dubbed the “Abu Dhabi Pearl”, the pearl dates back to 5800-5600 BC during the Neolithic period. The discovery certainly authorizes the Gulf countries as one of the earliest users of pearls. The stone was found on the floor of a room discovered during excavations on the island.
