It’s monsoon on the cards and also the time for frogs to pop out of their dens and hoop around. While you may have seen a lot of frogs over the years, but have you ever bumped into yellow frogs?
Well, there is a thing like a yellow frog and they are so unique that they have garnered the attention of the internet. A video of the yellow bullfrogs was shared on the microblogging platform by Indian Forest Service officer Parveen Kaswan, who said that it was taken in the city of Narsighpur in Madhya Pradesh.

The frogs are called Indian bullfrog. Also, there is a cool reason behind why they appear yellow. As per the officer, the male bullfrogs, actually change their colour during the mating season to attract female frogs. Well, that is cliche.

These are Rana tigrina. Skin becomes yellow color during the peak rains, (mating seasons).

Had become almost extinct due to hunting for skin. Used for children toys DUGDUGI. loss of ponds and tanks, and green pasture with edible insects.

My grandma told me that they live under soil in hibernation during dry season and during rain they come on surface. Due to living inside soil they become yellow. Don't know if she was right or she had this knowledge was passed from her grandmother??

In Bengali we used to call it "Sona Bang"..Golden frog. I have seen more than this in my locality around 10-15 years back. Sadly I dont see them any more..

According to Daily Mail, Indian bullfrogs can also be found in places including Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka besides India.
