Mega video streaming platform YouTube will soon let you play Shorts videos on TVs. The company announced through a blog post that viewers will soon be able to stream YouTube shorts videos having a run time of 60 seconds or less on big screens at home. Along with new gaming consoles connected to an active network, viewers will be able to watch the short videos on big screens launched in 2019 or later.
Stream YouTube Shorts On TV Screens Now
Google will soon let users watch YouTube shorts content on TV screens but the major problem is that the videos are streamed in horizontal format and the big screens are designed for horizontal streaming. There will be a large blank space between the TV bezels and playing videos.
However, Google explained how they will be solving this problem in their blog post. So, Google has adopted a multi-UI design to overcome this problem. They are utilizing conventional video players, the Jukebox style UI designs, through either multiple shots videos will fill the screen or users will be able to customize the screen ratio to fill the gap.
Well, the jukebox style was rolled as, “strayed too far from the essence of Shorts, which features one video at a time”, says Google. On the other hand, the customized design of YouTube shorts will be able to complete YouTube Shorts’ streaming satisfaction. It’s not only great in design but also fills the gap.
“In the design rolling out today, you’ll see a modified version of that “maximal” prototype; we simplified the design of the right side rail, but will be looking to bring additional functionality in future releases. We believe that this experience balances the fun, and quirkiness of Shorts in a way that feels natural for TV”, reports the company.

Steps To Watch YouTube Shorts on TV:
- First, open the YouTube application on your big screen.
- Now access the shorts videos via remote.
- Next, choose any video of your choice to continue.
- You can also directly play the videos from your favourite content creator’s channel page.
