Zomato Launches “Healthy Mode” to Help Users Make Smarter Food Choices
Zomato has introduced a brand-new feature called Healthy Mode, designed to help customers identify the nutritional value of their meals before ordering. The feature was first rolled out in Gurugram and will gradually expand to other cities across India in the coming weeks.
Making Healthy Eating More Accessible
For years, Zomato has made ordering food incredibly convenient, but now it aims to shift focus toward balanced eating. In a post on X, CEO Deepinder Goyal admitted that while ordering has become seamless, the platform hasn’t done enough to promote healthier options. He emphasized that Zomato’s core mission of offering “better food for more people” must increasingly spotlight nutrition.
Healthy Mode works by assigning each dish a rating that ranges from Low to Super. The scores are based on factors such as protein, complex carbs, fibre, and essential nutrients. While the back-end calculations use artificial intelligence and data provided by restaurants, the app presents the results to users in a simple, easy-to-digest manner. Every dish comes with a short explanation of why it qualifies as healthy, making it easier for people to make better choices.
Raising the Bar for Wellness
According to Goyal, the tool has been designed to meet a very high standard. In fact, he noted that even professional athletes could use it to guide their food decisions. He also revealed that the initiative has personal significance to him, as he often felt uneasy about how Zomato made indulgence so effortless but didn’t make healthy eating equally accessible.
Zomato is encouraging users to try Healthy Mode, share feedback, and point out areas for improvement. Goyal stressed that this is just the beginning of what the company envisions as a long-term journey to refine the feature and make nutritious eating as easy as satisfying cravings.
