Denmark Open: 17-Year-Old Beats World Champion PV Sindhu In Straight Sets

South Korean badminton player AN Se Young overpowered World Champion PV Sidhu to progress in the ongoing Denmark Open Super 750 Tournament. The 17-year-old beat Sindhu in straight sets to end Sidhu’s run.

AN Se Young played beautifully as she sent shots across the court to win the first game 14-21. Sindhu, in the second round fought with sublime accuracy but couldn’t manage to beat the South Korean.

AN Se Young claimed the second round and the game – 17-21.

Denmark Open Woes

The Indian side hasn’t had a good run at the Denmark Open. Earlier, Sameer Verma had lost to Chen Long in straight games in men’s singles second round encounter.

Indian men’s double pair of Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy had also lost 16-21, 15-21 to Han Chengkai and Hao Dong Zhou.

Moreover, India’s men’s singles badminton player Sai Praneeth was blown away by Kento Momota of Japan in the second round.

Saina Nehwal and Kidambi Srikanth had also suffered first-round losses on Wednesday. While Saina lost to Sayaka Takahashi, Srikanth lost to Anders Antonsen of Denmark.
