World Food Day is celebrated annually across the globe on October 16 to generate awareness for those who suffer from hunger. The day is driven towards achieving Zero hunger across the world, which is also among United Nations 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
The theme for the 2019 Food Day is “Our Actions Are Our Future. Healthy Diets for A #ZeroHunger World”. As per the Food Aid Foundation, 1 out of 7 people in the world is hungry. And 795 million people in the world do not have enough food to lead a healthy active life.

India has been ranked 102 among the 117 countries in the 2019 Global Hunger Index. The Global Hunger Index calculates the levels of hunger and undernutrition worldwide.
